The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a new lockdown this evening. The Times of Israel reports, that another lockdown keeping Israelis in their towns — or in Jerusalem their neighborhoods — will be imposed from Tuesday at 5 p.m. until Thursday. The lockdown must still be approved by the cabinet.
Bakeries will not open after the end of Passover, as is traditional, meaning Israelis will have to survive on matzah a bit longer.
Netanyahu says later in the week strategies for rolling back restrictions will be discussed in his cabinet. Israel’s reboot, however, would be “slow and responsible,” Netanyahu says. Even if the virus appears to be retreating, “there is no proof that it won’t return.”
