Version 2.0: effective January 1, 2026
FinTelegram publishes investigative and compliance reporting. We take accuracy seriously and we also receive complaintsโsome well-founded, some strategic, some incomplete. This Fact-Checking Procedure explains how we handle complaints fairly, consistently, and with a clear audit trail.
1) What this procedure is (and isnโt)
- It is a structured way for complainants to substantiate an alleged inaccuracy with evidence, so we can verify and, where warranted, correct or clarify.
- It isnโt an arbitration process, a negotiation about tone, or a mechanism to demand deletion, de-indexing, or editorial control.
2) How to submit a fact-checking request
To start a fact-checking review, please provide:
- Report URL(s) and the date/time you accessed them
- The exact passages you challenge (copy/paste text)
- A short explanation: what is wrong and why
- Your requested correction/clarification (preferred wording)
- Evidence supporting your position (documents, filings, regulator letters, screenshots, contracts, etc.)
- If you represent a company: proof of authority (e.g., corporate email, mandate, letter of representation)
Incomplete submissions may be treated as general feedback rather than a fact-checking request.
3) The โUnder Reviewโ label
When a fact-checking procedure is formally opened (typically after execution of a Fact Checking Agreement, โFCA,โ where needed), FinTelegram may label the relevant report โUnder Review.โ
Important:
- โUnder Reviewโ does not mean the report is wrong, unlawful, defamatory, or retracted.
- It means we are verifying specific challenged statements using information provided by the complainant and other sources.
- FinTelegram may or may not take additional actions with challenged content labeled “Under Review.”
4) Time-boxed evidence window (your obligation)
Fact-checking is evidence-driven. If you ask us to verify accuracy, you must provide substantiation.
- Initial evidence deadline: You must provide your substantiation package within 10 business days after the procedure starts.
- Follow-up requests: If we request additional information reasonably needed to verify your claim, you must respond within 10 business days.
5) Automatic completion: โUnder Review โ Reviewedโ
If required information is not provided within the deadlines, the procedure automatically ends and the report status changes from โUnder Reviewโ to โReviewed.โ
โReviewedโ means one of two things:
- We completed the review based on the information available; and/or
- The complainant did not provide sufficient evidence within the required timeframe, so the review was closed.
โReviewedโ does not necessarily mean โconfirmedโ or โcorrected.โ It means the fact-checking process is concluded.
6) What outcomes to expect
After review, FinTelegram may:
- Make no change (if the complaint is unsubstantiated or the reporting is supported)
- Correct factual errors
- Clarify wording or add missing context
- Update the report with new information
- Add an editorial note (including โReviewedโ)
FinTelegram retains full editorial discretion over wording, placement, and whether to publish supporting materials.
7) Use of materials and confidentiality
Information and documents you provide are used solely for fact-checking, editorial review, and related legal assessment. Materials may be shared on a need-to-know basis with authorized representatives (e.g., external counsel, experts, insurers). Where appropriate, we may quote or summarize limited parts of substantiating materials in an update or correction.
8) What this procedure protects against
This procedure is designed to:
- Improve accuracy through a documented, evidence-based process
- Reduce misinformation and โcomplaints by assertionโ
- Provide clarity to readers via transparent status labels
- Create a clear record of what was challenged, what evidence was provided, and what editorial decision was taken
9) How to contact us
Please submit fact-checking requests via our complaints form here.
FinTelegram publishes in the public interest. If you believe a report is inaccurate, the fastest path to correction is precise identification of the challenged statements and credible supporting evidence.
