Ownership Dispute Erupts in the US Over Seized Russian Oligarch’s Superyacht “Amadea”

A legal battle has ignited in the U.S. over the ownership of the "Amadea," a luxurious superyacht ensnared in the web of international sanctions against Russian oligarchs. With monthly maintenance costs soaring to $600,000, U.S. authorities are eager to sell the vessel, but its rightful owner remains contentious. The U.S. government seized the $300 million superyacht in Fiji in April 2022 amid allegations that it belonged to Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov.

The Oligarch Hunting – Italian authorities seize more superyachts and assets!

The Guardian reports that Italian law enforcement has seized villas and yachts worth at least €140m from four Russian oligarchs, placed on an EU sanctions list after Russia invaded Ukraine. They forfeited a villa owned by the billionaire businessman Alisher Usmanov on Sardinia and a villa on Lake Como owned by Vladimir Soloviev. They also seized superyachts belonging to Russia's richest man, Alexei Mordashov and Gennady Timchenko. The hunting season against the Russian kleptocrats continues.

Superyacht hunting update – French seized Igor Sechin’s Amore Vero!

The beating of Russian oligarchs continues. Today, the French government announced that it had seized the $120M superyacht Amore Vero owned by the Russian oligarch Igor Sechin, CEO of Russian energy giant Rosneft. The French finance minister informed via Twitter that the precious vessel was seized at a shipyard at La Ciotat near Marseille. The EU sanctioned Sechin earlier this week, describing him as one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's "most trusted and closest advisors, as well as his personal friend."
