New York Attorney General Letitia James has successfully secured a $2 billion settlement with bankrupt cryptocurrency firms Genesis Global Capital, LLC, Genesis Asia Pacific PTE, LTD., and Genesis Global Holdco, LLC. The settlement aims to maximize recoveries for investors defrauded by these entities. Due to Genesis' prior bankruptcy declaration, this historic settlement requires bankruptcy court approval.
Coinbase, a public-listed U.S. crypto exchange, has troubles with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), which has threatened to sue Coinbase over some of the crypto exchange's products. The regulator gave Coinbase a Wells notice, typically one of the final steps before the SEC formally issues charges. The SEC qualifies some of the company's assets and services as securities, including its staking services.

New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a civil lawsuit against Celsius Network founder Alex Mashinsky, alleging that he defrauded investors out of billions of dollars with his crypto lending scheme by hiding its true financial situation. Mashinsky allegedly continued to promote Celsius as a safe alternative to banks and paid up to 17% interest on deposits while already deep in shit!
The superseded indictment against U.S. citizen Reginald Fowler and his Israeli partner Ravid Yosef was unsealed in early 2019. They are charged with operating an unlicensed money transmitting business, bank fraud, and wire fraud. All this is said to have been done on the basis of cryptocurrencies and hundreds of millions of dollars are said to have been moved around the globe. This case is closely connected to the Bitfinex Case around a lawsuit.
